Fluyd · Why it works
The Boring Stuff
Behind Fluyd.
Most electrolyte products are either made for athletes, too weak to matter, or full of sugar. Fluyd is none of those. Three minerals, in the right amounts, with no unnecessary fillers.
Our formula
The electrolyte breakdown.
The one you lose most.
It's what you sweat out first, and what most water doesn't replace. Sodium helps your body actually hold onto the water you drink, instead of it running straight through you.
Works with sodium, not against it.
Potassium and sodium are a pair. One pulls fluid in, the other keeps it balanced. When they're in sync your muscles work properly, your energy stays steady, and hydration actually does its job. When they're not, you feel it.
The one you're probably low on.
Used in hundreds of jobs around the body, from turning food into energy to helping muscles relax after they work. It's also one of the most commonly under-consumed minerals, which is why a daily top-up makes a difference.
Why coconut water powder.
We could have used straight potassium chloride like everyone else. It's cheaper and easier, it just doesn't taste great on its own. Instead, a decent chunk of this tub is actual coconut water, dried into powder. It needs a small rice-based carrier to stay a powder rather than a brick, which is the only reason the word maltodextrin appears on our label. The result is a smoother drink than salt alone can make.
Coconut Water Powder: 21% in Lemon, 17% in Blackberry.
Where it fits
Not just a workout drink.
Your body runs on electrolytes all day, not just at the gym. Here's where a daily scoop fits.
That morning headache or grogginess is not always about sleep. It is often mild dehydration. Six to eight hours of breathing and sweating without replacing fluids means your body starts the day already running low, and water alone does not fix it completely. Electrolytes are what let your body actually hold onto the fluid you drink.
Every litre of sweat can carry up to a gram of sodium out with it, plus potassium and magnesium, the same minerals that keep muscles contracting and nerves firing. That heavy legs feeling late in a session, or the headache after a hard workout, is often your body running low on these, not just effort catching up with you.
Most people reach for water. But if you have lost significant electrolytes, plain water can actually dilute what is left. Replacing the minerals alongside the fluid is what lets your body actually recover.
Even a small % drop in body water is enough to measurably affect your concentration and mood. That mid-afternoon flatness most people put down to lunch or a bad night's sleep is often just mild dehydration catching up. Water helps, but electrolytes are what allow your body to actually hold onto it, which is why plain water through the day sometimes does not feel like enough.
A long day, a hard session, a big night, a bug going around. What these have in common is your body losing fluids and minerals faster than it can replace them. The rough feeling that follows, whether that is a hangover, post-workout fatigue, or just feeling run down, is largely your body waiting to be replenished. Electrolytes absorbed alongside fluid is how that process actually starts.
One scoop. Whenever the day asks for it.
What's not in the tub.
Here's what we chose not to use, and why.
The average sports drink packs 20 to 35g of sugar into a single serve. Fluyd sits under 1g. Something you drink every day shouldn't carry that much sugar.
No sucralose, no aspartame, nothing invented in a lab. Fluyd is sweetened with stevia leaf extract, from a plant that's been used for its sweetness for centuries and is approved by food regulators in NZ and internationally. A small amount is all it takes.
Blackberry is coloured by beetroot. Lemon isn't coloured at all, because it didn't need to be.
Six ingredients, each with a job to do. Nothing in the tub exists to bulk up the scoop or stretch the label.
Tap a line for the reasoning.
